Aboriginal Cultural Lessons

ABORIGINAL CULTURE

We currently have 43 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children at Killarney Vale. All the children are invited to attend Aboriginal cultural activities on Fridays at lunchtime. We will be learning about and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture through art, music, singing, dancing, local and Australia wide traditions and history. Parents are more than welcome to come and share their culture with the children.

The Koori Choir consists ofAboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their friends and provides opportunities for the children to be immersed in and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture through music as well as gaining self esteem, performance experience, confidence and friendship building with children from other schools. On Tuesday 19th February the Koori Choir students engaged in a workshop at Brooke Ave PS and then a performance on Thursday 28th February at the Dolphin Theatre, The Entrance High School, to open the Dare To Lead Aboriginal conference. The students were outstanding and there were many proud parents in the audience.
